I never thought that in my life I would be writing and publishing a book. The idea came after months of exchanges with one of my student from Raga Wellnesss Sydney, Nicholas Molodysky. One recurring discussion that we had is how do we and can we get manhood therapy to operate in the legal framework within our country. It is a tall order and honestly, till now, we don’t have a concrete strategy yet but we came to a conclusion, before other steps can take place, let’s document this ancient art first. Hence, the book.
When we begun, it started off as A Guide to Manhood Therapy (Urut Batin). But as we continue to write, we have more and more ideas on relevant topics that we could incorporate in. With the constant bounce of ideas, the book which started off as just 40+ pages has now become a 16 chapters with 157 pages book, A Guide to Men Sexual Health and Manhood Therapy (Urut Batin). This could possibly be the first ever book written in this length that touches on manhood therapy (urut batin) incorporating the anatomy and physiology viewpoint plus with associated men’s sexual health issues and men’s reproductive system. Like Fa Abdul, the editor of the book, said in her Facebook post, “This book is suitable for men of all ages and backgrounds. It’s also valuable for women who want to understand the sexual health of their male partners or mothers with sons. As a mother who struggled when her son was diagnosed with a hernia at 5 years old, I wish I had this book twenty years ago”.
It was a conscious decision to have Fa Abdul as the Editor, not only because of her appropriate skillset but also we wanted a women perspective in editing the book and yet, do not mind the subject matter. Fa whom I know from the performing arts industry decade ago, is someone whom I trust wholeheartedly.
From the get-go, Nick and I were adamant in using actual male genitalia photos (and not illustration) in relevant to the topics presented, just like any medical or health guide book. We worked with approximately 30+ different male models / contributors (all above 18 years old) in obtaining all the images. But the downside of it, at the moment, we still haven’t manage to find a printing company in Malaysia due to those images used. Mind you, it is nothing pornographic and it is all professionally presented to showcase techniques, conditions or to enhance certain points that we put forward via visual. Just that Malaysia is in a very weird state now where taboo subject like this can be sensitive to some (and things can go viral in a bad way fast). Printing in Australia will cost 3x the amount (compared to Malaysia) which makes the book very expensive to buy. At the end, we just decided to launch it as an e-book for the first phase.
