Intro:
–  I knew John from a workshop that I conducted recently. He used to be in the organic food industry but has since changed industry in 2018.

– He specialized in aromatherapy and uses the German essential oil, Oshadhi.

– Before the session, he did some basic Q&A to find out which areas I want to work on, whether I have a favourite oil, what type of smell I like or any oil that I am sensitive to etc. He tailor made the oil mixture according to the session where he mixes them on the spot.

Sequence: Prone: Very thoroughly, he tackled the back / shoulder, glutes, leg, foot.

Supine: Just like on prone, he tackled each segment very thoroughly. He started with the leg, foot then to stomach, hand, chest and finish with face and head.

He gives me a very grounded feeling throughout the session in the way he handles the part by part but yet, flowing quite smoothly from one part to another.

Technique:
– Before he began the routine, he placed his hand underneath the massage table so that I can inhale deeply on the oil that he has concocted for this session.

– For every body part, he goes with very light effleurage for oil application and ends it with gentle finger tapping. Despite light, he still has a very firm grip.

– In the main sequence, he uses a lot of effleurage, deep palm ironing and thumb stroke. Certain portion he uses recoil technique too. His rhythm is very steady and as a receiver, I feel very secure knowing that I am being massage by someone who knows what they are doing.

Additional note
– He can converse in English but prefer Cantonese or Mandarin.
– He did the routine with a full draping. The foot draping where he practically wrapped the foot with a towel is not something that I experienced always and he has done it well. I felt very comfortable.

Pros:
– Very good price with the quality of aromatherapy that he offered. Felt very at peace and at ease for the entire session.
– Friendly and knowledgeable on essential oils.

Cons:
– At times, his hand can feel a bit rough.
